Four Seasons Resort Hualalai at Historic Kaupulehu is part of the master-planned 865-acre Hualalai Resort in North Kona. The 243-room resort comprises 36 low-rise oceanview bungalows and was recently named “No. 1 Hotel in Hawaii” by Travel and Leisure and “No. 1 Resort in the United States” by Zagat. The resort also received the AAA Five Diamond Award for the ninth consecutive year.

Robert Whitfield has been named general manager of the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai, replacing Kathleen Horrigan, who transferred to Four Seasons Resort Palm Beach in Florida.
The an-nouncement was made by Jim FitzGibbon, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts president of worldwide operations.
Whitfield brings more than 25 years of professional hospitality experience to Hawaii. He was most recently general manager of the 200-room Four Seasons Hotel Silicon Valley in Palo Alto, Calif., where he led the pre-opening team for the hotel, which opened in January 2005.
From 1999 to 2004, he was general manager at the 196-room Four Seasons Resort Nevis in the Caribbean. Before joining Four Seasons, Whitfield was general manager of the Royal St. Lucian Hotel in St. Lucia. In his native England, he held management positions at several hotels in London’s west-end, as well as the city’s Barbican Arts Centre.
Whitfield is a graduate of the Hotel, Catering and Institutional Management Association of the Brighton College of Technology. He moves to Hawaii with his wife and three children.
